It is not even June but already Luton Town FC have made their first signing of the summer.

Just hours after, here at Vital Luton, we covered the speculation relating to our interest in the Wycombe Wanderers player Fred Onyedinma – luton-linked-with-exciting-young-forward – it was officially announced, by the club, Click Here that the player had signed for what is described as an undisclosed fee.

I am not sure if our poll is totally relevant in the circumstances, but his potential signing did get a THUMBS UP from 91% of those who voted.

The club also confirmed that the signing of Onyedinma was funded by the newly established ‘Transfer Club’ fund whereby season ticket holders were given the option to take a 40% discount on their 2021/2022 season ticket but could, instead, donate the money to the referenced fund.

But what do we know about Onyedinma?

Born in Nigeria, he moved to England, with his family when he was three.

Raised in the south-east, he was on the books of Millwall before attracting the interest of Wycombe Wanderers, where he spent two loan spells before making the move to the club permanent in July 2019.

At 24-years-of-age, Onyedinma is the perfect recruit, a speedy left-sided player who can play as a winger or as a left wing-back, which could indicate Nathan Jones may introduce more flexibility in his formations next season.

I am excited about this signing and if the club can add a midfielder possessing a penetrating pass and a striker who can score regularly to provide assistance for Adebayo, next season could be an exciting one for all Hatters supporters.

Bring it on!
