With the Hatters being proactive towards the end of the EFL summer transfer window, it was perhaps inevitable that the squad would have to be trimmed.

Ahead of the summer transfer deadline day, news had already broken that Luton had sent Peter Kioso out on loan, something we reported on – luton-surprisingly-allow-young-defender-to-go-out-on-loan – with the defender joining Bolton Wanderers on loan.

Yesterday, on transfer deadline day, we were expecting Luton to move on a couple of midfielders, what with Joe Morrell and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall both joining the club.

But it appears, as confirmed by The BBC that only one left the club, Andrew Shinnie, with that being a loan deal.

Shinnie, now 31-years-of-age, dropped down a division to join Charlton Athletic for the remainder of the season.

The Scottish international initially came to Kenilworth Road on a loan-deal, from Birmingham City, and played an important part in the side that gained promotion in 2018 / 2019.

However, while the loan deal involving Kioso could be seen as one that will enable the young defender to get regular first-team before he returns to Kenilworth Road, I get the impression it is the end of the road for Shinnie.

If that is the case, then I am sure you will join me in wishing Andrew all the best at Charlton and thank him for his service to our fine club.

Good luck Andrew from all at Vital Luton Town.

Hi all, think the previous manager may have damaged shinnie’s career with us. Same could be said for many others too….I’m a bit surprised kioso was allowed to go before the deal with osho was done…I assume that deal is a no no…
