Luton Linked With Former Midfield Target

The transfer rumour-mill seems, when it comes to speculation, to have slowed down when it comes to Luton Town.

With seven signings already made, that is, perhaps, understandable.

This morning though there is one piece of speculation that has appeared in the media.

According to Football League World, the Hatters are being mentioned as being interested in a former target, Elliot Anderson.

Regular visitors to Vital Luton Town, may recall Anderson is a player that the Hatters have been linked with before – luton-miss-out-on-transfer-window-target – when Anderson opted to join Bristol Rovers, on loan, in January.

With the new season looming large, Anderson, with Newcastle United embarking on a spending spree, realises that his opportunities of getting regular football, at St James Park, is unlikely and has, as reported by our source, openly admitted another loan move could be his best option with the youngster remarking:

“It’s kind of like a free hit – I’ll give it my best shot, and if they think I need another season out on loan, I’m happy to do that. Whatever’s best for me.”

Along with Luton, to other clubs get a possible mention as destinations, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.

But how do I perceive this piece of tittle-tattle ending up?

If indeed Luton are interested in acquiring this youngster, it’ll take a persuasive tongue from the gaffer, Anderson is looking for regular football and with Luton’s raft of midfield talent, I’m not sure Nathan Jones can guarantee a regular start and I can’t see the deal being concluded, but, then again, I may be wrong, it wouldn’t be the first time.

How do you see this piece of speculation ending?

Why sign elliot Thorpe last season who supposedly is similar to Anderson. But can’t get a game for us. What purpose will will be served by signing Anderson now. With the players signed he will be just another body for midfield. If he wants game time he will go somewhere else.

I agree Chris. We need players for now, not in some distant future. Usually when these young players get a chance they perform relatively well. As others say, give them a run in the team. NJ seems to want a different team each season.

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Ray, it’s more about njs attitude itself. He is to welded to his trusted players an scared to blood new young players it’s his biggest fault.

  • Alan says:

It’s not just NJ it’s the modern game…hardly any prem or champ teams gamble these days….if he gambles and it goes wrong, it will be why not play experienced players….the modern day fans are not as patient as we were years ago….its not just NJ, its all modern day managers I’m afraid.

Alan while I accept that may be true. What about the old adage if they are good enough they are old enough. PWhat would have happened to the likes of Hudson birchenall Francis Rooney an the fergerson class of 92 yes they had loans but all were given some first team exposure over time. Thorpe 1 Cup game neufville called back an not used perriera 23 still being loaned out. Being on the bench an used in games where things are good given 20 mins here and there will do them no harm an possibly they can thrive. At the moment they have nothing. I’ve said this in a previous post.

  • Alan says:

You haven’t read my post chris. I’m not saying what’s right. I’m saying supporters these days (21st century) aren’t patient. The majority want instant success. My point was is not just us, it’s football in the modern age……no club now would be as patient with Fergie these days as they were in his early days.

wise words alan. the computer age has made people expect instant results. football is no different. as you said, last season we might have played a few youngsters, but only if we were safe on points and mid table. then the playoffs started. living in hope.COYH.

  • Alan says:

Thanks jimbo for getting my point. I would love to see a Ricky Hill come in. But I also know the response from supporters if we gamble and result go pear shaped. NJs name would be mud and last season would be well and truly forgotten.

  • Chris winter says:

I didn’t address the fans views as on here many are calling for the youth to be given the chance. An I didn’t think that as it was just a view in response to rays comment needed to be addressed. Mate

  • Alan says:

And mine was just a view to your comments..

  • Alan says:

By the way, to the many who want to see youth, the development side won 9.0 last nite and they are playing in harpenden Friday eve…..all are welcome….lol…

  • Ray says:

Sorry guys didn’t intend to start an argument. I think that for a club such as Luton with limited financial reserves should be bringing in those players that nj believes can play in the 1st team within a reasonable time frame.

We can’t do what Man C etc do recruit everyone that passes the door in case they may make it.

Hust my view. Supported LTFC since the 60’s but now find it difficult to get to games. So am an avid reader of thes chat even if I’m usually silent 😊

  • Alan says:

Ray it wasn’t row mate. It’s all opinions. We are all fighting from the same corner. So no worries..

  • Andrew says:

Do you think like me the younger players may have a better chance of getting into the first team now as nj has Paul Hart in charge and he is one of nj men , is he more likely to listen to Hart more about these players as Hart is working with them now . Coyh
