With the new season drawing ever closer, there’s an interesting piece of transfer speculation in the media today that infers Luton Town could be set to sign a left-back.
According to The 72 the Hatters are in direct competition with Sunderland to sign 23-year-old Demetri Mitchell.
Mitchell has been released by Manchester United and would be available as a free-transfer.
However, Nathan Jones will have to move quickly as the player is currently training with the League One side, Sunderland.
While on the books of Manchester United, Mitchell made just the one senior appearance and, recently, has spent time out on loan with the Scottish Premier league side, Hearts.
Now whether the Hatters hierarchy can persuade Mitchell his future lies at Kenilworth Road remains to be seen.
Here at Vital Luton Town, we’ll endeavour to keep abreast of the situation and report back if there are any further developments.

Anything Bayern Munich Can Do Luton Can Go One Better
Hi mh, the problem here is does the player want money or playing in a higher division. We can’t match his previous wages or that offered by Sunderland. So unless nj can show him that he will be able to showcase himself here an then go on to better things. Then I’m seeing this as a nogoer at this time
too much of money before ambition in the game these days for my liking!
Why do we need a left back? We have Potts and Galloway already. Surely our priority is a centre back like Carlton Vickers?
Hi75, I’m afraid ccv is in the same category as this guy to expensive for us an wants to play for a big club. It’s also why the young Liverpool back wouldn’t join on loan
I keep saying it, we are woefully short of a right back….
He has had a lot of injuries. Could be another Brendan Galloway
