Although all those who played yesterday deserve praise for producing a stoic performance, in inclement weather, against a dangerous side, there really was only one man-of-the-match.

You only have to visit social media sites to see the accolades pouring in the direction of our centre-back, Tom Lockyer.

The Welshman produced an immense performance and surely is, now, one of the first names on Nathan Jones team sheet.

Indeed, with all his centre-back partners falling by the wayside, injured, Lockyer remains the only true centre-back available for selection by Nathan, with Dan Potts being the latest to pick up a knock.

With the World Cup looming large on the horizon, Tom’s performances must have given him every chance of representing his country in the sports most prestigious event.

The following posts both illustrate this possibility while also summing up just how well Tom played at Bloomfield Road:

Indeed, we are and while our other centre-backs struggle for fitness, we should be keeping our fingers crossed that nothing happens to our Tom!

Morning mh, it does make me wonder why Wales continues to pick a dog regularly for their squad (the pointer Morrell) yet Tom is regularly overlooked OK had injuries. But the fact remains that with a defence that is shaky at best why is he not on their radar for the world Cup?
