Luton Gaffer Ecstatic Over Win

With two games to play, Stoke City (a) and Rotherham United (h), before the mid-season break for the World Cup, the Hatters are in a decent position.

If we can show the determination, grit and resilience shown at Blackpool, on Saturday, I see no reason why we cannot enter the mid-season break occupying one of the play-off places.

The performance at Blackpool, considering or circumstances, was remarkable, every player played their part, and all should be showered with praise.

However, it is important to not get too carried away, the Championship has a nasty habit of delivering a shock at every opportunity.

Following the Blackpool game and as reported by the BBC, the gaffer, Nathan Jones, was full of praise for his team, remarking:

“Outstanding. The group but their bodies on the line, defended the cage superbly well away from home and came through masses and masses of adversity.”

Before pointing out the selection obstacles he had to overcome:

“We had four centre-halves out, people playing out of position, Jordan Clark coming into right back, Bree playing centre half, Lockyer an immense, immense centre half, Bell defending, Pelly coming back from injury – and then Luke Berry gets a goal.”

All did amazingly well, but returning to the performance overall, the boss added:

“It’s just the perfect away performance, perfect away day.

“It’s a difficult place to come to and we had chances on the counter – we could have made it a lot more comfortable, but 1-0 is sometimes the best win, especially when you are clinging on in added time and they are bombarding the box. You see the character of people.”

Okay, 1-0 maybe a good win but a second goal might have prevented the endless nail biting and the worry that several hearts were going to give way!

Can we have it a little easier at Stoke, on Tuesday please Nathan?

I wouldn’t bank on an easy night at Stoke it’s always a horrible place to go. Great fans who give everything for the team. An surely now we must sign Hector or blood that young centre half for that game.
