Luton – Capacity Crowds, Don’t Bank On It

Yesterday, as we all know, was labelled ‘Freedom Day’ with the government lifting all the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

It was a day we have all been waiting for, but is everything as it seems, are ALL the restrictions set to be lifted or will other measures be brought in?

The reason I ask the question is that, with instances of COVID-19 cases rising, mutterings emerged last night, on numerous news channels, that the government may decide, from September, to introduce Vaccine Passports for events where attending crowds are close together.

It appears the masses who flocked to nightclubs the very moment they opened may well have triggered this new measure, but I believe it will not stop there, other events could be sucked into this scenario with all sorts of inherent problems emerging.

Last week, I ran an article – it-is-far-from-all-over – which canvassed opinion on whether you would be happy to return to Kenilworth Road when things, pandemic-wise, returned to normal.

Your responses were very honest with several admitting they were not to keen to do so fearing for their own health.

While the double-vaccine is most welcome, cases of people who have been vaccinated catching the virus are now emerging, I cannot help but think society is on a precipice, caught between the lesser of two evils.

Hopefully, my fears will be eased, and society will return to normal, but would you bank on another lock down not being forthcoming between now and Christmas?

I certainly would not!
