Yesterday, up at St Andrews, Rob Edwards did something no Luton manager had done for circa 40 years.

After a run of three EFL Championship games without a win, Rob took his side to Birmingham and became the first Luton Town manager to win, in front of a crowd, since 1982.

The victory was attained courtesy of a single strike, two minutes after half time, from our top scorer, Carlton Morris.

The game wasn’t the best you’ll ever see but I’m sure, like me, you’ll take several more 1-0 wins if it means we can qualify for the play-offs and have a shot at a place in the cash laden Premier League.

After the game, speaking to the local BBC, Edwards, in his usual open and honest manner, had this to say about his charges after the game:

“I don’t think it was ever going to be pretty today. Pitches all around the country at this stage of the seasons are quite difficult to play on and Birmingham were fighting for their lives as well. It was a challenging game but to come out on the right end of it is obviously very pleasing.

“We know how important the points are in every game now. Today we had to grind it out a little bit but we showed some good moments at key times. I think we looked a threat and it was a great goal.”

Yes, it was a great goal, the delivery by Alfie Doughty was top notch and Morris directed his header downwards and back in the direction the cross had come in from, for his 13th goal of the season.

However, with our injury count beginning to rise (again), Edwards will have to use all his magic to extract a win, against Millwall, on Tuesday.

Millwall earned a victory, against Stoke City on Saturday, by scoring early and then sucking the life out of the game with a stoic defensive display where they kept numbers behind the ball and rarely threatened the Stoke goal again, we could face similar tactics at Kenilworth Road, in front of the Sky Sports camera’s.
