Luton – Another Poor Referee This Time Against Birmingham City

I had contemplated doing a regular article possibly entitled ‘Rate the Ref’ after each game.

Just recently, as is often pointed out, we’ve had some shockers refereeing our games.

As a result, two articles have been published whereby I’ve tapped into your feelings – referees-the-all-important-question-waiting-for-your-response – and – your-damning-verdict-on-the-state-of-refereeing

But did any of us expect the scenario to change?

I certainly didn’t!

Yesterday, up at St Andrews, David Webb, hardly covered himself in glory and ahead of posting any comments beneath this article I’m asking you to refrain from using expletives, as HQ will give me a hard time.

Against Birmingham City, one incident caught everyone’s attention when, shortly after scoring, Carlton Morris was caught with what, at best, can only be described as a crude dangerous tackle, by Marc Roberts, a tackle Webb only saw as worthy of a yellow card.

Talking to The BBC, Rob Edwards gave his views on the tackle, remarking:

“I do think the challenge was a poor one and I know it happened quickly which makes it difficult for the ref but it wasn’t a yellow card, so that’s disappointing as we could lose him now and we know how important he is for us.”

Obviously Rob has to be careful what he says or a disrepute charge could follow, but social media was alive with condemnation of the referees performance:

Now those are just two of many but are indicative of the rest.

We can only hope Carlton’s injury isn’t too serious as we definitely need him for the remainder of the season, being fit for Millwall might be a challenge but maybe, just maybe, that will be the only game he’ll miss, fingers crossed.

Please feel free to air your views on the referees performance, against Birmingham City, in the comment facility beneath this article.

If Morris has to miss some games then Rob who has bigged up most of our forwards recently won’t be that worried will he ? 😁 They will surely be scoring for fun now if they get the chance of a run?

Type B ref… All small decisions right, massive decision diabolical.
That still photo of both feet off the ground out of control is horrible, almost lucky it’s his shoulder.

Joke referee. Should have had a life sentence for attempted murder.
