And so, we head into the mid-season World Cup break, with our next game not until Saturday 10th December, with a 1-1 home draw against Rotherham.

After the turmoil of the last week, a week that saw us lose our manager, Nathan Jones, a draw leaves us in a solid position for whoever takes over the managerial helm, with the Hatters sitting in tenth place just two points off the play-off places.

But the game against Rotherham was a strange one, with Mick Harford in interim charge, I can’t recall a game where the two goals were scored in the first and last minute with in between being a bit disjointed.

Social media carried a variety of comments relating to the carnage during the week:

That certainly is a poignant post, I’ve mentioned before that it is essential the board get this appointment right, we cannot afford another Graeme Jones style appointment, we need to take the momentum we’ve gathered forward, not suffer a relapse.

But, in a game that could, at best, be described as dour, there were several social media posts that didn’t mince words, with this one being typical:

Yes, Alfie was good, but once again, despite recruiting heavily last summer, we hardly looked like scoring, a problem whoever takes over from Nathan Jones will have to get his teeth into.

I’m at a loss to explain why our strikers are so out of form it cannot all be down to loss of confidence. Or lack of trying just everything that they try sees no end product. An I bet they score worldies every day in training. Are they leaving all their goals on the training ground??? 🤔🤔🤔

Adebayor winning duels, holding up the ball, taking people on, skipping past defenders like the player he was last season, just doesn’t seem to be getting opportunities in front of goal and feel both of our strikers having to spend large parts of the game covering wide areas… Formation doesn’t seem to be helping them at moment with Bree and Bell forced inside… But I’ll take a point going into the break after the week we have had.
