If I were to run a poll, it would be interesting to see which era were to be voted your favourite when it comes to Luton Town FC.

Over the years we have had some glorious times while also suffering some dips that could well have crippled lesser clubs.

From silverware to non-league, we can certainly say that we have suffered the full range of rollercoaster emotions.

But if I were to be pushed as to what my favourite era would be, it would have to be the first reign of David Pleat as the Luton manager, 1978-1986.

That era saw Pleat mould the side into a formidable unit, a side that were resilient at the back and played some attractive attacking football.

The fact that he left us to manage Tottenham Hotspur still rankles with me.

But, glancing through many a Facebook page, I came across two magnificent photographs showing several of those associated with Luton, in that fantastic period, having a recent get together.

and

So many famous faces who graced the Luton shirt in what was my favourite era, but can you name them all?

In finishing this article, I would like to offer my thanks to Michael Saxby for his permission to use the above clips.

Hopefully, we will, in the future, be able to run similar articles covering such get togethers.

It was without doubt that it was the best era. We had great players an played our best ever football. We were great to watch. But I still hanker for the stock era. I loved the close season an watching with awe all these new found players becoming stars out of nobody’s along with rioch an Slough an the like.
