The Hatters eased into round two of the FA Cup in a close fought local derby against Northampton Town.
In the end, a tight tie was settled by a strike from the Luton substitute Adam Watkins in the 80th minute.
The youngster netting after latching on to a pass from Jake Howells and beating the Cobblers keeper form the edge of the box.
In a close game, the victors had a goal disallowed when Saido Berahino fired home only to be given offside.
Luton had two good penalty appeals turned down by Andy D`Urso. The first coming after the Cobblers defender Michael Jacobs left a leg hanging out and the second when Amari Morgan-Smith appeared to be on the receiving end of a push.
Although promotion is perceived as the main priority this season, a good cup run will boost confidence and also our depleted funds.
However, the downside form the victory yesterday was the sight of both Keane and Morgan-Smith being substituted, in the first half, after aggravating existing injuries.
But I guess you can`t have it all can you!
