Considering that both sides had little to play for, both teams gave a performance worth watching in an open game, which saw a debut, as substitute, for the diminutive Danny Stevens.

icholls and Foley were in the starting line up, but it was a surprise to see Carlos Edwards missing from the squad altogether, especially as I named him the Luton player to watch!

hris Coyne, Markus Heikkinen and Russell Perrett were all still sidelined through injury, so Steve Howard played again at centre half.

Burnley started the better of the two teams, and Marlon was grateful when a speculative Mahon shot came straight at him, and even more grateful to see Keane clear off the line with the keeper beaten, and the game was as yet not ten minutes old.

nother shot came straight at Beresford soon after, and uncharacteristically, he let it slip from his grasp, and Andy Gray almost made him pay for it.

uton?s first real shot in anger was not until 29 minutes, when Nicholls saw a gap and drilled in a shot, which rose over the bar and was still rising when it hit the back of the stand!

icholls had another half chance a minute later, but saw his effort deflected for a corner.

uton were getting more into the game and playing some slick passing football, and Feeney found space but shot weakly. However, it was Luton who first found the net. Nicholls played a 1-2 with Feeney, then slipped a perfect pass to Vine, who turned and shot quickly into the net to Jenson?s right.

urnley began the second half as they had the first when Harley crossed and O?Connor saw his diving header comfortably saved by Beresford.

anny Stevens was given his debut on 75 minutes, coming on for Morgan and showed that he likes to take on defenders and is difficult to shake off the ball. It was Stevens who found Vine and, as he was about to pull the trigger, Sinclair intervened just in the nick of time.

wo minutes later, Lafferty found space in the penalty area, turned Barnett and shot low into the net for the equaliser. Both teams carried on striving for a winner, but a draw was about the right result.
