Tonight, the Hatters are back in action, at Kenilworth Road, in an EFL Trophy fixture.

Hard on the heels of the 3-2 win, against Scunthorpe United, on Saturday, Luton welcome their near-neighbours the MK Dons to their humble abode.

Whilst the EFL Trophy isn’t the highest of priorities on Nathan Jones wish-list for the season, it does give the boss the chance to give some of those players who are on the fringe of the first-team the chance to show what they can do.

It also gives the boss the chance to bring back into the starting eleven anyone who has recovered from injury and is looking to get back that all-important match fitness.

One such player is Danny Hylton.

Our striker has been missing for several games now but tonight, according to the local news source, Dunstable Today, could be the ideal opportunity for Jones to give the striker a run-out, with Nathan quoted as having remarked by our referenced source:

“It’s whether we want to risk him in it really.

“It’s not too early, he’s trained now for 10, 11 days with us, it’s just about what we want to do moving forward.”

However, when it comes to the fixture tonight, Nathan has plenty of thoughts to juggle with a crucial trip to Barnsley, for a League One game this Saturday, forcing Nathan to add:

“It’s a big game at the weekend so we need to make sure that we utilise the squad for both of us.

“It’s a tough decision as he’s kind of ready now, we can’t do any more with him in terms of just building him up.”

If I were Nathan Jones would I risk Danny tonight?

Yes, would be my answer, give Hylton a start and let’s see how he gets on for an hour if all is good then substitute him and wrap him in cotton wool ahead of the trip to South Yorkshire.
