After going two games without scoring, the last thing Hatters fans would have wanted was to see somebody who hit the net regularly last season and who has already troubled the scorers this season, leave the club.

But that is exactly what has happened today.

It has been officially announced that Isaac Vassell has left Kenilworth Road to sign for the Championship side, Birmingham City.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Hatters on a free-transfer from Truro City last summer, has penned a four-year deal, with the fee Luton received from Harry Redknapp`s club being described as undisclosed (where have we heard that before).

Vassell, last season, made 42 appearances for Luton Town last season, scoring 10 League Two goals.

Here at Vital Luton we`d like to thank Isaac for his contribution to the cause and wish him well on the next stage of his career, but after the views previously expressed about the lad not being for sale, we suspect the ‘undisclosed fee` is a substantial amount!

  • I suspect the fee will be around 1.2m with add-ons but at this level 1.2m can make a big difference in recruiting a few players.

  • Come on Hatters lets have you back in the champs …brum knows all about having to sell there stars …they who dare
