Hatters Fans – Beware Of A Nightmare Scenario Developing

Image for Hatters Fans – Beware Of A Nightmare Scenario Developing

These are, for many, worrying times.

After back-to-back promotions, with the Hatters climbing from non-league football to the dizzy heights of the Championship, the threat of relegation back to the third tier of English football, League One, is very real.

But there’s nothing like a challenge and the Hatters faithful remain confident that their side can mount a realistic challenge to maintain their Championship status.

But as we explained earlier today the-luton-town-championship-survival-plan-unveiled the survival plans could go right down to the last couple of matches.

But a nightmare scenario could be lurking around the corner.

With the Hatters support keen to vociferously support their side in the battle to survive and outside influence could have drastic consequences.

The nation is perfectly aware of the media overkill given to the COVID-19 virus that is causing devastation, health-wise, across the globe.

With the situation worsening and the number of infections set to increase, in the UK, there is talk of it affecting sporting events.

Already there have been numerous sporting event cancellations across Europe with the suspension of Serie A the most notable.

We could be approaching a scenario whereby, to contain the virus, the last etchings of the 2019 / 2020 season could be played behind closed doors.

Imagine that!

No chance to cheer the Hatters on but just relying on news to filter out of the stadium via the media.

It would be a nightmare scenario.

But are there other options?

One may be to suspend the season under the virus is under control, but that could take months and could impede on the start of the 2020 / 2021 season.

Another could be to declare this season null and void, it would mean Luton would retain their Championship status but wouldn’t, in our opinion, be a viable option.

It’s a situation we can only sit back and watch unfold, something that is totally out of our hands.

But what do you believe the authorities should do?

Please feel free to have your say about the whole COVID-19 virus situation I the comment facility beneath this article,

If COVID-19 Worsens What Would Be Your Preferred Option?

Hi mh, I can’t see the efl declaring the league null an void under any circumstances. This leaves only two options an I think it will be play behind closed doors. As they won’t extend the season. It is to difficult

Which makes me wonder whether laws will be passed quickly to ban fans congregating outside the ground!

Hi mh you make a very good point there. I hadn’t thought of that. There is nothing to stop us at the moment so would they invoke the laws already in place as to assembly? It may be the way they could use the law

Hi all, I personally would suspend the season & see if CV dissipates first, but create a deadline so matches could be finished before the new season begins, then if CV is still prevailant play behind closed doors. Whatever is decided no one is going to be happy are they? If this season was declared null & void then obviously I think most Luton fans would welcome that but teams wanting promotion would not be happy. Of course the other option is to have an early summer break now & then play again say in 3 months or the impending breaks difference & continue playing into the new season until the next winter break. I know it’s not ideal but it would be the same for all.

Hi all.. cant imagine the season being made void….would be ok for us in our position, but imagine our response if this situation was this time last season…on the verge of promotion and then its taken away….we would have been “slightly” agrieved dont you think..

Hi Alan, good point mate re Luton promotion last season.

Hi all, like the comments. But we are all forgetting one thing. When have the fa ever done the sensible thing. These jokers aren’t fit to run a nursery. So expect the unexpected!!!!
