Come On Luton Let’s Get This Show Back On The Road

The last two weeks have been a challenge.

International football has never floated my boat, it just bores me rigid.

It seems an age since the Hatters were last in action in a fixture where the side fought hard to get the three points on offer, with a 2-0 win against Wycombe Wanderers.

The win lifted Luton Town to a respectable fifth place in the Championship table.

This weekend, with the 2020 / 2021 season set to resume Luton Town welcome Stoke City to Kenilworth Road for a fixture that, as has been the case for a while now, will be played behind-closed-doors.

Stoke City’s start to the season has not been as good as Luton’s with the side from the Potteries having amassed just four points from the three games they have played.

But it is a fixture that has more than the usual edge.

Stoke City were, of course, the club that persuaded Nathan Jones to end his first spell in the managerial hot seat at Kenilworth Road, much to the disgust of the Hatter support.

But Nathan’s tenure as Stoke City boss did not go well and after a poor spell of results, he was sacked.

The rest they say is history.

It is a fixture that I would love to see played in front of a capacity crowd at Kenilworth Road.

Can you imagine the banter being exchanged between the two sets of supporters?

But I fear with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic upon us, Kenilworth Road will remain empty for the foreseeable future and we will be lucky to escape another interruption to the football season.

Nathan will be hoping his side can continue their good form and get another win, even more so after what has occurred in the past, but I am pretty sure that Nathan, when pushed by the media to comment, will not lower himself to bad-mouth his former employer.

I reckon we are in for a tight game, but a game that Luton will edge, but is that a view you concur with?
