Bez must wait

Marlon Beresford’s charge of ‘using foul or abusive language to a match official after receiving the red card’ was due to be heard by the FA’s disciplinary committee yesterday.

Due to the unavailability of the star witness – the referee, Mr Cummins – the case has had to be deferred to March 7th.

It is likely that the offence will bring him a suspension so the delay will allow him to continue playing until the case is heard.

Perhaps Mr Cummings’ ears are still ringing from Mike Newell’s words after the match, and he didn’t want a second dose?

If his time is so precious, perhaps the FA will kindly schedule Mike’s case alongside that of Marlon.
