The FA Trophy, until the Kidderminster fixture, had seen the Hatters field a weakened starting eleven.
The competition was seen as one in which the coaching team could blood some youngsters.

Well apparently not!
It seems the fact that we`d not had a competitive game for some ten days prompted the strong turn-out with Gary Brabin admitting,
“That`s our strongest squad, apart from George Pilkington, who I gave the night off.”
“We needed to do it. We need to get back to games. A lot of the players needed to play.”
Common sense then really!
