There`s a bounce in my step this weekend.
Gone is the dark cloud that hovered over me when it appeared every man and his dog was being let go by Luton Town. Instead there`s a ray of sunshine following me as I eagerly anticipate the start of the new Conference season.
The acquisition of Henry, Spiller, Rendell and Shaw has me buzzing. Paul Buckle has bought four players who have the ability and experience to get us out of this league, a league we`ve dwelled in for far too long.
In fact, reading some words that Scott Rendell has given the local press, I`m buzzing.
Scott has spoken about those clubs that have climbed out of the Conference and then gone on to achieve back-to-back promotion, namely Stevenage and Crawley Town.
Rendell, keen to pull on a Hatters shirt and get the promotion push started has remarked in the local press,
“If you look at the likes of Stevenage and Crawley Town, they have gone on and got back-to-back promotions.”
“If any team has got that sort of set up in place then you know it is possible.”
“It shows that you can do it and hopefully Luton will be the next team to be able to do that.”
Now wouldn`t that be nice? It`s a dream we all cherish and, if we get off to a good start this August, one that could very well happen.
And if a strike-force of Rendell, Shaw and Gray doesn`t get you excited then there`s something wrong!
