A strong Luton Town Reserves team suffered their first defeat of the season, this afternoon, in a 4-0 pasting in the Pontins Holiday Combination Cup, against Reading.

After a decent start by the Town without troubling the Reading keeper Graham Stack, Reading began to take control and never looked back. Enoch Showunmi and Dean Morgan had opportunities early on, but it was Shane Long who opened the scoring for Reading midway into the first half. Then Simon Cox got on the end of a cross by Long to head home the second. As half time approached, Long pulled the ball back from the dead ball line to Hayes who blasted it home for a 3-0 half time advantage.

Two minutes into the second half, Hayes netted again for 4-0, and a rout looked likely, but the Town rallied and fended off any further damage.

Reading Reserves: Stack, Halls, Golbourne, Brown, Pearce, Dobson, Sinnott, Church, Hayes, Cox, Long.

Luton Town Reserves: Brill, Asafu-Adjaye, Mountford, Holmes, Keane, Barnett, Morgan, Stevens, Showunmi, Bell, Welsh.

But we won the one that mattered!
