Ahead of the local derby, with Watford, Rob Edwards did his best to play down the fixture.

Having been sacked, earlier this season, by our neighbours from down the road, us mere mortals would have been eager to talk up the word revenge.

But Rob was aware of the bigger picture, yes a win would be nice but the fact that Luton Town are so close to securing a play-off place would have been more on his mind.

I’m guessing Rob, when the play-offs arrive, wants to do better than his predecessor, Nathan Jones, did last time out.

However, with the win under his belt, Rob was only too willing to heap praise on his players, in his post-match interview to the local BBC, remarking:

“The players were outstanding, every single one of them, to the point where it made me emotional at the end.”

Was that emotion related to what happened to him while at Vicarage Road?

Continuing, Rob added:

“We’re in a really good position, we’re going to keep our foot down and see where it takes us. The lads know how to win games and we’re going to continue to do that – there are seven huge games to go.

“The club is on a high – there’s no guarantees we’re going do anything and I don’t want to start talking like something is going to happen – but we all feel something could.”

Yes, it could, and the expectation levels are rising by the game.

Finishing, Rob further added:

“We wanted to be in the mix with five games to go and it looks like we will be. I believe in that group of players with total faith. They keep proving people wrong.”

With SEVEN games to go, we’re more than in the mix, I’d go as far as to say that our future is in our own hands.
