Who’d have thought that after the thrashing they handed out to us, in the reciprocating fixture, our fortunes would go in completely opposite directions.

Not only have we caught Watford up in the EFL Championship table, we’ve overtaken them and left them a massive 12 points adrift of us, a remarkable turnaround considering Watford were a Premier League side this time last year.

I could have copied a raft of social media comments showing just how disenchanted the folk from Hertfordshire are, but I’ve chosen just a select few, for your titillation:

But, fair play to Chris Wilder, who had to endure chants of:

“Your getting sacked in the morning.”

From the Kenilworth Road support, for having the courage, in his post-match interview with the BBC

for telling it as it is:

“The best team won – that’s why they’re 12 points clear of where we are. That’s why they’ll be fighting for something at the end of the season and if it’s going to be this from us, it’s going to be mid-table obscurity.”
