I’m sorry but I just couldn’t help it, I just couldn’t restrain myself, I just had to have a look at what the lot from down the road have to say.
And do you know what, it made for very entertaining reading!
Who’d have thought that after the thrashing they handed out to us, in the reciprocating fixture, our fortunes would go in completely opposite directions.
Not only have we caught Watford up in the EFL Championship table, we’ve overtaken them and left them a massive 12 points adrift of us, a remarkable turnaround considering Watford were a Premier League side this time last year.
I could have copied a raft of social media comments showing just how disenchanted the folk from Hertfordshire are, but I’ve chosen just a select few, for your titillation:
Guttless three shots all game for Watford simply came just to make it one less game until the beach .

Was it three? I may have missed one then.

Diabolical – the Club is in its worst state since I started supporting them in ‘77. Please @eltonofficial buy back the club and restore its pride 🙏🙏🙏🙏😭

There is something seriously wrong at Vicarage Road. It’s not the manager’s fault. Its like keep changing the spark plugs on an engine but it still misfires. The players seemed scared 2 be on the pitch. I’ve been a fan through thick andthin since 67 This reminds me of Mike Keen.

Ah! Secret agent Mike Keen, now there’s a name from the past.
Further continuing:
Our rivals. Our bitter rivals. Not our hosts. Don’t you dare dampen it down. This fixture meant a huge amount so don’t even think of making it seem unimportant. Drag the players out to say sorry. Drag them out to say they didn’t want it enough. Start owning failure.

Just pathetic. Useless. Passionless. Ambition-less. Disastrous. Every player must clear off. I don’t blame Joao Pedro if he goes to the Prem in the summer because I think he will. WFC is shooting itself in the foot with some moves this season—sacking Edwards is Ex A. #WatfordFC

Blimey, in our darkest hour I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Hatters support so vitriolic.
But, fair play to Chris Wilder, who had to endure chants of:
“Your getting sacked in the morning.”
From the Kenilworth Road support, for having the courage, in his post-match interview with the BBC
for telling it as it is:
“The best team won – that’s why they’re 12 points clear of where we are. That’s why they’ll be fighting for something at the end of the season and if it’s going to be this from us, it’s going to be mid-table obscurity.”
Don’t expect us lot to shed any tears!
