Luton – Two Pressing Questions

Image for Luton – Two Pressing Questions

As soon as the rumours emerged that Luton’s Championship fixture, away to Reading, was in danger, the fear started that we were set to enter another frustrating period.

And it seems that is now exactly the case!

Although the EFL have stipulated that games MUST go ahead, if clubs can field a side consisting of a goalkeeper and fourteen players, which could lead to some very interesting team selections.

As I write, the Premier League programme for this weekend has been decimated, with FIVE games already postponed due to the latest COVID outbreak, with a bleak Christmas ahead for many a football fan.

Which leads me on to ask two vital questions!

1 – Are you, like me, puzzled as to why something in the region of 25% of EFL players have not been vaccinated? Surely, with the latest variant of the virus. Causing mayhem clubs should be insisting their players are vaccinated.

and

2 – Are we approaching the stage where a total shut-down of the EFL programme should be considered?

Morning mh, point you know already my feelings on that. Clubs should be made to field a team full stop even if it has to be youth players. Point 2 follows on from point 1 no game should be called off if both teams have enough players.

  • Chris winter says:

Oh an if 1 team can field a team an the other can’t then the team with a full squad should be awarded the points. Then see what clubs would do about players disregarding immunisation and social distancing!!!!

    MH,

I felt Nathan Jones’ uncomfortable response to the recent press enquiry on vaccinations embarrassing. To state that it’s a player’s lifestyle choice is misjudged, this isn’t about a new hairstyle! The players obviously require more education in this respect!!
I would step back from forcing vaccinations, but love the idea of clubs having to forfeit the match if they can’t get a team together!

I’m afraid this is a reflection of society in general. People think they’re willing to risk not being jabbed from a personal point of view without regard to the affect on everyone they come into contact with. Their purely selfish decision is a major reason for the spread of covid.

The comments of some managers baffles me although I suspect they’re reflecting the official viewpoint of their club. I don’t suppose they would get away with imposing a fine or other penalty for players who refuse to get jabbed.

It would be interesting to know the percentage of unvaccinated players for each club and the correlation with covid postponements.

Every body should be vaccinated it’s not about football players or any other sports person it’s about protecting all of us including there family’s stop the crap and get it done

Totally agree. How did the world eradicate smallpox? By making everyone get vaccinated. Simple, no vaccination = dont get selected to play. I wish Gary Speed would take the lead on this and make LTFC the first football club in the UK where all staff and players are vaccinated. I dont want a player to play for LTFC that is so selfish and not caring about his family or team mates. Its not a personal choice anymore.

I don’t think football should stop because of a few players having covid. Clubs nowadays have large squads consisting of 2 players or more for each position. That’s why you have a squad for injuries and illness. Now is the time to utilise your squad. It’s saying something if if don’t have confidence in your squad players if you’re not prepared to pick players who are merely squad players and not regarded as first team players. At work when people are of sick whether it be with covid or any other illness. Team members have to fill in for them. Doing their own work as well as covering those of sick. Get on with it. The public are having to show willing. The public are getting vaccinated. They wear masks they show a covid pass. It’s time for Clubs to get a better grip on covid and insist that their members get vaccinated or don’t come to work. Your are putting your colleagues staff club and supporters at risk. You are becoming a health hazard if you’re not vaccinated. Covid cost lives and livelihoods.

these viruses are a pain in the arse. but get your jab. lets look after each other. i am suprised that so many players are not jabbed. wonder why.COYH.

Maybe the large amount of football players/sports stars collapsing on the pitch from cardiac arrest or leaving the pitch complaining about difficulty breathing may have something to do with it?? Just a thought ??

  • Chris winter says:

So after yesterday’s debacle an those who rule football. Have said that the leagues may not finish if postponements continue. What will they do. In my opinion going on their previous performance precisely nothing while pontificating with the usual hot air. But that’s English football for you always 50 yrs out of date. It’s time they got tough an an implimented my suggestions at the start of this debate. But that won’t happen will it they are gutless an will just blindly stumble from crisis to crisis doing nothing 😢😢😢😢
