This Saturday, the Hatters, in a second consecutive away fixture, travel to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa.
It is, to put it mildly, a tricky game with Villa in fine form, especially at Villa Park.
Back in January 2022, I featured Aston Villa in one of our ‘They Played For Both’ series an article that can be seen by clicking on the link – played-for-both-aston-villa
After much deliberation I came up with the following starting XI:
Goalkeeper – Jake Findlay
Defender – Steve Foster
Defender – Chris Nicholl
Defender – Paul Elliott
Defender – Curtis Davies
Midfielder – Henri Lansbury
Midfielder – Garry Parker
Midfielder – Bruce Rioch
Forward – Jimmy Adam
Forward – George Stephenson
Forward – David Geddis
As is the norm I asked the readership to provide the details of any players who also fitted the criteria with only:
• James Bree
being provided.
However, since being published, the names of two other players can now be added to the equation:
• Ross Barkley
• Marvelous Nakamba
Ahead of the clash, on Saturday, I’ve revisited my original starting XI and have come up with the following XI (plus substitute):
Goalkeeper – Jake Findlay
Defender – Steve Foster
Defender – Chris Nicholl
Defender – Paul Elliott
Defender – Curtis Davies
Midfielder – Marvelous Nakamba
Midfielder – Garry Parker
Midfielder – Bruce Rioch
Midfielder – Ross Barkley
Forward – George Stephenson
Forward – David Geddis
Substitute – Henri Lansbury
Have I got the XI right, or would you beg to differ?
