Luton Town – The Thoughts Of Honest Rob – Brighton (h)

Having given his team a last few words as they prepared to exit the dressing room, did the gaffer have any inkling as to what we were going to witness?

As he made his way across the immaculate Kenilworth Road pitch preparing to take his seat in the dug-out, did he know that before his backside was to get warm his charges would be 2-0 up?

I very much doubt it but, as I’ve said before, football can be a strange game.

After seeing Adebayor and Ogbene plunder those first two goals in the first 140 seconds of the game, I’m guessing, although absolutely delighted, Rob was keen to see his starting XI settle into their pre-match shape, maintain discipline and not get overly confident.

Naturally, after seeing his side hit Brighton and Hove Albion for FOUR, with a clean sheet also being kept, it was a buoyant Rob that fulfilled his media obligations.

Talking about the game and as reported by the BBC

Rob had this to say:

“I feel – we feel – the best way for us to go in this league is to attack.”

“We’ve done that to quite a few teams – it’s how we play.”

“With a result and performance like this, a few people might take notice of it a little bit more. We’re going to keep driving the players.”

“We have to keep our foot down. We can’t afford to stop because we’re not good enough to do that.”

So, is attack the answer?

Are we confident that we can protect ourselves when we play sides that are reliant on the counter-attack and are damn good at it?

That remains to be seen, but after what we’ve achieved this season I wouldn’t argue with Rob’s philosophy, would you?
