Ahead of the Carabao Cup game, against Gillingham, I was inquisitive as to what the attendance would be.

My inquisitiveness came from the fact that ticket sales, appeared, to be slower than for a Premier League fixture.

Also, taking not account our last home game in the competition, against Newport County, where the attendance was a mere 3827, I had my fears a similar figure might materialise.

Such was my concern I decided to run a poll asking your views, with the poll entitled:

The Luton v Gillingham Attendance Will Be?

4000+
6000+
7500+

As it turned out the official attendance figure was announced as – 9,468 which, to me, is an achievement in itself and just illustrates the growing interest, in our club, since promotion was achieved to the Premier League.

As for the poll results, only 35% thought we’d achieve a figure in excess of 7500, while 45% went for a figure between 6000 and 7499 with the remaining 20%, like me, expecting between 4000 and 5999.

Long may it continue.

I’m sure the novelty value of our new stand an the rebuild of the Kenny forecourt. Was a major factor.also I expect every game this season to be a sell out in the league maybe not so depending on the opposition in cup games.
