With the Hatters having secured a place in the third round of the Carabao Cup, against Gillingham, the draw for the next round was eagerly awaited.
With those Premier League clubs who are participating in European competition finally joining the competition, the potential was there for a, potentially, big tie for the Hatters.
The draw took place shortly after the game between Doncaster Rovers and Everton had taken place and with Luton Town nominated as ball number 14, it wasn’t long before our opponents were known.
There will be no Premier League tie as the Hatters were drawn away to play the League One side, Exeter City.
With the ties for the third round, being played in midweek, those Hatters fans intending to go to the fixture face a long road trip and a return to their abodes in the early hours of the morning.
Nevertheless, it is a tie that the Hatters should win, although we should never take anything for granted in cup football, but I’d be very surprised if Luton Town were not in the hat for the draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The tie is scheduled to be played in the week commencing 25-September.

just remember the teams that luton beat from higher divisions in cup games. the uncertainty is what makes cup games so unpredictable. looks like sam nombe will be going to rotherham, so might not play against one of his old teams. COYH.
