The Hatters, in front of a sparse crowd, eased into round two of the FA Trophy.

Taking on the Dorset side, Dorchester Town, for the third time in a little over a week, with our paths also having crossed in the FA Cup at the weekend, Luton secured an FA Trophy second round tie, away to Matlock Town courtesy of a decent 3-0 win.

With a slightly shuffled side, Paul Buckle watched on as Dan Walker bagged a brace and JJ O`Donnell also got on the score sheet. However, fair play to our visitors for notching up the goal of the night when Dan Thompson scored a fine consolation with five minutes to go.

Whilst the win is considered as most welcome, after all everybody loves a good cup run, I can`t help feeling that being involved in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy could have a detrimental effect on our immediate desire and priority for the season, of getting out of this damn league with something akin to a fixture congestion already building up.

But I guess we can`t have it both ways can we!
