Towards the tail-end of last month, speculation began to emerge (again) that the Hatters were interested in bringing a familiar face back to Kenilworth Road.
Although Luton are well served in the goalkeeping department with Simon Sluga and James Shea, we felt obliged to offer the following article relating to the return of Christian Walton – the-man-between-the-sticks-conundrum.
At the time our opinion was that it was just speculation and that a deal would only happen if the Hatters were going to cash in on or record signing, Simon Sluga, to raise cash for some summer transfers.
If that is the case, then the plan could be set to hit a big obstacle.
According to The 72, who have garnished information from a local source Eastern Daily Press, Walton could be headed for the Premier League with Norwich City keen to add a number two to their squad to counter the possibility / probability of their current number two, Organ Nyland, not putting pen-to-paper on a new deal.
However, the recently promoted club, are also debating whether to opt for Angus Gunn, currently at Southampton, as an alternative.
I cannot help thinking that this, as far as Luton are concerned, is one of those cases where there is no smoke without fire, our name keeps being linked with Walton far too often for it to be anything else.
All we can do is sit back and wait and see what materialises if anything!
