Luton welcome Swansea City, to Kenilworth Road, for their first EFL Championship fixture, in the month of March.

Back in March 2021, the Welsh side featured in our – Played For Both -series, and it proved a real challenge to provide a starting XI (plus substitute)

In the end, I published a side that was lacking nominations in several positions, but, asking for assistance, a Vital Luton Town regular, Danny, sprung to my assistance, filling in the blanks (where annotated):

Goalkeeper – Keith Barber

Defender – Rhys Norrington-Davies (provided by Danny)
Defender – Paul Price
Defender – Cameron Carter-Vickers
Defender – Alfie Mawson (provided by Danny)

Midfielder – Gary Cobb
Midfielder – Adrian Forbes
Midfielder – Jernade Meade

Striker – Phil Boersma
Striker – Besian Idrizaj (provided by Danny)
Striker – Warren Feeney

Substitute – Mark Walton (provided by Danny)

It really was a challenge to produce the above and, in the end, we had to be content to name a goalkeeper on the substitutes bench.

Since being published, I’m not sure if any other suitable candidates have fitted the criteria, but I’m sure someone out there will do so.

There are several clubs, as I’ve found, where it is impossible to produce a starting XI, but Swansea City was the hardest I’ve come across so far.
