And, yes, you’ve guessed it, it is time for another of our totally random ‘They Played for Both’ articles.
With time on my hands, I’m continuing to plough through the EFL and Premier League, providing starting XI’s that, hopefully, generate healthy interest.
Last time out, I chose the Essex based club – they-played-for-both-colchester-united – for this article I thought I’d remain in the southern half of the country but going in a westerly direction to choose Oxford United.
The starting XI I came up with is listed below:-
Goalkeeper – Alan Judge
Defender – Johnny Mullins
Defender – John Dreyer
Defender – Steve Foster
Defender – Gavin Johnson
Midfielder – Tom Craddock
Midfielder – Asa Hall
Midfielder – Brian Lewis
Forward – Phil Gray
Forward – Trevor Aylott
Forward – Danny Hylton
Substitute – Mark Stein
It is an XI that, I believe, would be a formidable unit, but can you think of any other individuals that deserve a mention?
If so, simply drop their name into the comment facility beneath this article.

Imre Varadi – wasn’t with either side long but was a great player to watch in the 80’s
3 good shouts, did Imre stay at any club long?
now you mention it, it does look like he was quite partial to a signing on fee, interesting to note he started off at Letchworth Fc !
Imre went to Lealands High school….his dad used to coach local Sundon Park kids teams…
Ok, i wonder whether he had trials with us or slipped through the net
Wouldn’t swear to it, but think he may have been on our books at school level.
