Luton – The Price Was Not Right

With the transfer window now firmly shut, little snippets of information are surfacing relating to a failed attempt to bring a player to Kenilworth Road.

Yesterday, our article – transfer-deadline-day-disappointment – with its self-explanatory title, covered the fact that there were no new arrivals on transfer deadline day.

However, according to Football Insider 24/7 the Hatters made a bold attempt to bring an exciting young talent to the club with a late bid.

The intended target being the Morecambe winger, Freddie Price.

Price, just 19-years-of-age, has produced some illuminating displays for Morecambe and Luton, having already signed Carlos Mendes Gomes, in the transfer window, were looking to raid the north-west based club for a second time.

But it was not to be, with Morecambe issuing a ‘hands-off’ warning when it came to a possible sale.

Perhaps Luton were looking to do a deal aware that Price is in the last twelve months of his contract and that Morecambe might be willing to financially capitalise on their talented youngster.

However, when it comes to the transfer window overall, with the Hatters having secured the services of EIGHT new players, I reckon it must be viewed as a successful one.

I was GLAD no one else came in we are top heavy with midfielders !
Gutted to hear Lee has gone NEVER given a run in the championship to prove himself ! So sad !
    Berry to come back too.
WHEN WILL WE EVER GIVE OUR YOUNGSTERS A CHANCE ?? We used to have a conveyor belt of top talent. Now they get nicked in their teens & then Norwich sell them on for 20 million plus !!
Would have preferred that past it Hylts had Gone & Lee stayed !!

Does anyone else think it’s strange that nj said if we brought anyone in they must be first team players. Yet after failing to get one. They try to sign a 19 Yr old!!! Who isn’t playing 1st team football at the moment maybe he was just looking for a bargain considering the boys only got a Yr left on contact.
