Luton Supports Verdict On Sluga Sale

Image for Luton Supports Verdict On Sluga Sale

Yesterday, in what I believe was a mediocre transfer deadline day, we said goodbye to our record signing, Simon Sluga.

Following his absence, from the first team, for the last few weeks, here at Vital Luton Town, we had our suspicions a move was on the cards and duly reported the deal – so-its-goodbye-from-simon-sluga.

But a move to Bulgarian football wasn’t something, if I’m honest, I suspected would happen.

Naturally, social media was alive following the announcement of his sale and I’d like to discuss a few points.

The first relates to that term – undisclosed fee.

If the media are right, when Sluga moved to Kenilworth Road we coughed up £1.5 million for his services, surely, we, as fans, are entitled to know if we made any money on the sale or, indeed, lost any.

It is a point shred by those who frequent social media:

Will the fee received ever come to light?

But, theirs is no doubting that Sluga left us with some good memories and when it comes to picking the highlight of his Luton career, one save seems to be remembered by many:

But that word, inconsistent also springs to mind, with the Croatian international being capable of world class saves one minute and clangers the next:

But I couldn’t help noticing that the Wigan save just keep reappearing:

Who did get his gloves is the question I’d love answered!

With Sluga gone, choosing to move to Bulgaria, it’s hard to see our paths crossing, but in this strange game of ours, you next never know, but if we do meet again, my money is on Sluga being MOTM, how about you?

Morning MH. What happened to the Hilton to Oxford deal and the the Lee to Charlton deal or am I missing something? So end result one less player to see us through to end of season. Or is there some kind of deal that can happen after January 31st.

Can someone out of work still get signed by the club?

I don’t understand why as fans we are not told what the fees for players are ? I feel we should know if the club have done good business. Coyh

It may be that having a 1yr option that we could have invoked may have helped with the fee. Or the club may have allowed him to leave on compassionate grounds. Let’s remember this guy was away from his family for 2 an half yrs. An we never heard of any discontent from him he never went missing after international duty or miss training. Unlike some midfielders we had.

  • Chris winter says:

Apparently we got 500,000 for sluga that’s what is being reported

  • Chris winter says:

That’s what my mates in Bulgaria who support black sea varna say there papers are reporting. That’s a big loss for 2 an half yrs.
