Luton Support Back Safe Standing Area

With no Championship football earlier this week and being keen to keep the site rolling along, I decided to delve into the world of safe standing.

It is an option several clubs, across Europe, are exploring and with Luton Town Football Club standing on the precipice of a great new era, with the Power Court development, something I wanted to gauge your opinion on.

To do so, I utilised our popular poll facility to ask the simple question:

Would You Support An Area Of Safe Standing At Power Court?

And provided 3 options for you to ponder over:

Yes
No

and

Undecided

The response showed that providing an area of safe standing support would get your approval with 76% choosing the YES option.

It is the response I hoped for, I am probably not the only one that yearns for the days when terraces were the norm and certain areas of Kenilworth Road were inhabited by individuals who congregated together to generate the atmosphere that made our quaint old ground so special.

There is no denying that standing generates a different kind of atmosphere to the seated stadia of the modern era and when the chanting / singing is in full flow, is there a better sight in football, when it comes to events away from the playing service.

Of course, if it were to be included as part of the Power Court development, it would have to be closely monitored numbers wise, football does not want another disaster like Hillsborough.

As for the other votes cast, 19% went for the NO option whilst a mere 5% went for the UNDECIDED option.

I have my fears that those behind the development are not for changing and that it will be an all-seared stadium, but, then again, you just never know!

i recently commented in favour of standing at games, but then i thought the youngsters today would be dropping there mobile phones when the crowd surged.also remembering how hot and sweaty it used to get, nice in the winter, but not so nice in summer. i would still advise standing. C.O.Y.H.

I remember being in the middle of the Oak Road and losing my car keys, thankfully someone picked them up and they were waiting for me at the Police Station
