Luton – Sunderland – The Thoughts Of Honest Rob

I’d imagine that walking off the pitch and then having to go about your post-match duties needed a stiff upper lip yesterday.

Although Rob Edwards had seen his side extend their unbeaten run to six games, courtesy of the 1-1 draw with Sunderland, Rob, like many of us, knew his side had been robbed courtesy of that dodgy, no diabolical, penalty awarded against us late on.

On such occasions it is very easy to lose your dignity and unleash a torrent of abuse that could easily get you in trouble with the authorities and after two recent fines, that is the last thing we want.

So, instead of losing his rag it was pleasing to see our honest gaffer, in talking to the BBC tell it exactly as it was without crossing the line with the boss remarking:

“It was not to be. The players deserved the win. The performance overall was very good.

“We’re in great shape, but ultimately a wrong decision [the penalty call] cost us. I feel like the boy has bought it.

“That changed the momentum and dynamics. It lifted them completely and we could have gone from three points to nothing. I am proud of the lads. It was some shift. We had real periods of control.

“I’m sure we’ll look back on it and say it was a really good point, but it’s tough to take now. We are greedy and want three points every game.”

Yes, on paper, it was a good point to take but the realisation that it should have been three hurts, does it not!

Rob Edwards is a great manger in front of the camera gets his point over in a calm way and not losing his rag so different from nj who would blame everyone under the moon if it didn’t go his way . I really do like Rob Edwards for the way he handles the press, keep it up . Coyh
