With the Championship fixture, against Wycombe Wanderers, at the forefront of our minds, yesterday we pondered over whether our Republic of Ireland international striker, James Collins would get a start.

Collins, when it comes to the starting XI in recent fixtures, has been conspicuous by his absence, however, the striker came off the bench to score a good goal in the last Championship fixture, against Barnsley.

Our article – striker-dividing-opinion – also gave our readership the opportunity to have their say on whether Collins should start by posing the crucial question:

Would You Start James Collins Against Wycombe?

For our poll, to eliminate those who like to sit on the fence, we offered just the two options:

• Most Definitely

and

• No Thanks

The results showed that 71% of those that voted want James Collins to be part of the starting XI against bottom of the table Wycombe Wanderers going for the ‘Most Definitely‘ option.

As for the other 29% who voted ‘No Thanks’ could they be Wycombe supporters visiting our site intrigued as to what we are discussing ahead of the game?

If I were charge, now there is a dangerous thought, I would start with Colins and ask him to fee off Elijah Adebayor.

How about you?

Morning mh, you pose an interesting question an it seems to me that Jones has had time now to work with both strikers on the training ground an if they could work in tandem he surely would have started them together. Both of them need supply an cornick provides them. This means that he must play 3 up front. Meaning he cannot use his preferred formation. I know he does regularly change during games but only when forced to. So for me it’s unlikely he will play both to start.

Hi all, I agree with Chris, obviously nj sees players day in day out and trys different things. I would love to see, as I said yesterday in my starting 11, Adebayor collo and cornick together 2moro. It’s a bit of a gamble, but collo tends to drop back when needed anyway so give it a go….coyh….

Some weeks back I said Luton needed a big bustling tall centre forward capable of winning and heading on goal kicks etc. We now have that player and Collins would thrive if he had the service he needs and not always from corners or crosses.
Play them both with Connick a little further back and watch what will happen when opposition centre backs cannot play two on one as at present.

afternoon all, second guesssing NJ seems to get harder by the week but we’ve never lost away to Wycombe, a record going back 25 yrs and it’s a record i’d like to see us preserve.
