Luton – Pick Any One From Five

With the Hatters having secured third place, in the EFL Championship, all that remains is to see who we are paired with in the semi-final shoot out.

Monday 8th May promises to be an exciting afternoon as we take on Hull City, at Kenilworth Road, hoping to finish the season with a flourish, thereby extending our current unbeaten run, but also keeping an eye on how the games involving possible play-off opponents are going.

Having finished third, Luton Town will be taking on the side that finish sixth in the table, but who will it be?

Currently the table stands as thus:

5 – Coventry City – 69 points
6 – Millwall – 68 points
7 – Sunderland – 66 points
8 – West Bromwich Albion – 66 points
9 – Blackburn Rovers – 66 points

which means 5 sides are still capable, if results go their way, of securing either fifth or sixth place, with Middlesbrough already confirmed as finishing in fourth place.

But who can you see scraping through?

The final day fixtures, involving the five teams in contention are:

• Middlesbrough v Coventry City
• Millwall v Blackburn Rovers
• Preston North End v Sunderland
• Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion

with, as you can see, some exciting games.

Coventry face a difficult fixture away to Middlesbrough while Blackburn go to Millwall knowing they have to beat the South East London club and hope Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion both drop points in their fixtures, at Preston North End and Swansea City respectively.

Sticking my head above the parapet, I reckon Millwall will take that sixth place thereby giving us a semi-final against them, over two legs.

Do you concur with my point of view, or do you beg to differ?

Sorry mh, I’m preying that Coventry lose at Middlesbrough an Millwall win against Blackburn meaning we face Coventry in the play off.

  • Alan says:

Hi all, agree with Chris, but got this horrible feeling it’s gonna be millwall.

  • Steve Bahrain says:

Will still take anyone but WBA… Team most likely on their day to give us a hiding at their place first leg. Need to pick up a draw away (or a marginal defeat) realistically as we aren’t prolific at home for making up deficit. Confident we could get a win at cov and a draw at Millwall so happy there.
Hoping Sunderland don’t make it as their ‘Big Club Fans’ annoyed me for so long whining on in League One

  • Phillip Bassill says:

I don’t think it matters. We can beat all of these teams. This is our Town. This is our Time.

    • Chris winter says:

Your right Phillip but we are saying who we least fancy playing in my case Millwall are so like us I could see it going to pens an I want to avoid them. Unless it’s at Wembley.

  • Trevor Bradley says:

Anyone really, out of the 5 teams you’ve mentioned we have only beat Blackburn this season. All the above teams will be tough opponents. So if i have to choose 1 it would be Sunderland in the semi-final and Coventry in the final. I say that because Sunderland have the worst home record of the 5 teams but the best away record, Blackburn would defo be my first choice but they will not make the top 6 (goal difference there problem).

on there day any of these teams can and will win games. all of them have top quality players. we have to bring our top team, and play out of our skins. any team will make an exciting run in. looking forward to see how we perform in this championship lottery. my sneaking suspicion is W.B.A. will get the spot, but i have been wrong before.COYH.
