Former Derby striker Paul Peschisolido will now miss the end rest of the season following a course of injections which has failed to heal his persistent ankle injury.

He will now require an operation which effectively ends his season and probably his Luton Town career as he is only on a 1 year contract.

The Luton Town Manager Kevin Blackwell took the news on the chin as yet another slice of poor fortune and is steeling himself for player losses in the new year once the transfer window opens.

Trying to look on the bright side (Yes – I know!)he told the club’s official website:

‘The fact we have only lost once in the last ten games shows we are moving in the right direction.

‘Sadly January 1st is coming up and I’m sure that will bring us more problems.

‘All we can keep doing is to concentrate on the football, and hope something positive will happen for us soon.

‘I have been in this situation (administration) before with Leeds United and we had our hands tied in trying to do what we had set out to achieve.

‘However we eventually came through it and I am sure that Luton Town Football Club will do the same.

‘There are some hurdles being thrown at this Club, but for the life of me I can’t understand why.

‘I’m mainly referring to the Football League, because I have been told not to take any more players in as it will add to the debt. In fact I’m going to have to sell players and loan players out to reduce the debt.

‘All I have asked is to try and keep the one or two players that we have had on loan. But no, we are not allowed.

‘I have seven players injured and still the Football League won’t budge.

‘You can imagine how frustrating it can be. It’s one of the most frustrating times in my managerial career, but I have never known a time when so much goes wrong and keeps coming on a weekly basis.’

Richard Jackson has also added to Blackwell’s problems as heawaits the results of a scan on his injury.
