Luton – Now This Should Be Interesting

A piece of very interesting news broke yesterday lunchtime relating to a top club.

Several news sources, including the BBC, were reporting that Manchester City have been charged with breaking financial rules.

Seemingly, it is not just the odd breach but in excess of 100 instances.

Which got me thinking!

If the charges are proven, what kind of penalties will they impose on the club who, over the last few years, have dominated English football?

I’m sure, like me, you’ve never forgotten the draconian punishment handed out to our own club, a punishment which was enforced on a regime who had nothing to do with the charges levelled at a previous regimes misdemeanours.

The punishment was so severe we never stood a chance of recovering.

Similarly, up in Scotland, Rangers were, as a result of their misdemeanours, dumped into the bottom tier of Scottish football.

If the charges are proven, can we expect Manchester City to suffer such draconian punishment or will it be a fine, a slap on the wrist and a warning not to do it again?

Your thoughts on the subject matter would be greatly appreciated, please feel free to have your say in the comment facility beneath this article.

Got a lot of sympathy for Chelsea after the way they were almost railroaded to extinction by politicians last season, I also hear most of the signing fees are spread over the lengths of the players contracts, loop hole in FIFA’s rules!

Whatever happens they’ll buy their way out if it

    Nothing will happen I’m afraid

Unfortunately there is no way that MC will get anything other than a slap on the wrist. They are all too powerful
Clubs like LTFC are the cannon fodder who are made to pay so the BIG boys can reap there grubby rewards

It funny how the FA act on something when the white paper white paper is coming out so be seen doing something before their power is taken way from them . City have probably broken the rules but so have many more clubs or they wouldn’t be get getting in debt so much . Look for one scapegoat and leave everyone else a only . The FA board should be kicked out and ex players and a fan group . The FA board should be investigated over all the deals that have gone before . Coyh

We all know that whether or not they are found guilty (and I am pretty certain that they will find a way to prove that they are not – possibly by way of a brown envelope or two) the toothless FA will live up to their initials and do sweet FA.

MC will likely get a wee slap on the wrist and a nominal fine. I hope otherwise but I’ll be surprised if there’s any truly meaningful punishment. Football is eating itself and the gap between the haves and have nots is widening. Be good to see one of these pumped up, jumped up clubs get a jolt.

Manchester City should have 12 points deducted like other clubs in the lower divisions.

  • Neil watson says:

    Spot on

  • Dave Hilton says:

Man City will buy themselves out of trouble, as they say money talks

  • Matthew says:

Thirty point reduction sounds strangely familiar and about right.
