Luton – Midfielders Future Too Close To Call

In the first of something akin to a mini-series, here at Vital Luton, we ran an article relating to one of our midfielders.

The article – keep-or-sell-this-midfielder – focussed on whether, following his signing last summer, the Hatters should keep or sell tour Welsh international, Joe Morrell.

Naturally, the best way to gauge opinion was to put the subject to a poll and we asked the simple question:

Joe Morrell – Keep or Sell

With the poll having run for more than 48 hours, it appears that opinion, among the support, is mixed and probably too close to call with 48% voting to KEEP HIM and 52% voting to SELL HIM.

However, it was noticeable that several regular visitors to this site pointed out that the player appears good enough to strut his stuff on the international stage, with Wales, but does not get the same opportunity with the Hatters with the player being restricted to just 5 Championship starts during the 2020 / 2021 season.

With the close season upon us, it would not surprise me if Morrell were one of those offered for sale as, it appears, he does not seem to feature in Nathan Jones long-term plans.

If he were to be sold, would you be disappointed?

KDH aside, he’s comfortably the best technically in the midfield. Following him in those recent Welsh games, he has a first touch, ability to quickly see a pass, and the skill to deliver it well in excess of any other of the players in the squad. It beggars belief that it hasn’t had more game time, when it seems a clogger like Rea plays virtually every game.
The only real reason I can think is that Jones can’t find a way to fit him in the current squad. With summer comings and goings that may well change. Without KDH next year, his time may well come again

I’d imagine he’s pretty peeved off, I’m guessing he signed thinking he’d be a regular in the starting XI, hopefully, if he remains with us, he’ll get more game time next season.
