Luton – Let’s End This Play-Off Hoodoo

Tuesday evening and the second leg of our EFL Championship play-off semi-final, promises be a nerve-racking night.

After slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat, on Saturday, at the Stadium of Light, the Hatters need to keep things tight and break down what will be a resilient Sunderland side and an eleven that contains, as was shown in the first leg, several flair players capable of troubling us on the break.

Yesterday, (Sunday), I published an article – this-play-off-semi-final-is-far-from-over – suggesting that the tie is far from over and that the tie is only at the half time stage.

However, it is my duty to point out that Luton Town will have to end a play-off hoodoo, a hoodoo that has seen us struggle in play-off fixtures, as pointed out by these social media posters:

Plus, it should also be pointed out that whilst we have home advantage, at Kenilworth Road, Sunderland have a superb away record this season, as the following post informs us:

Like I said, it is going to be a nervy night, finger nails will be chewed, hearts will miss a few beats and, by the time we all get home, those voices might just be on the verge of going after cheering on our boys.

No matter what happens tomorrow I thought I’d get out my crystal ball and look to the future. If Rob wants to go in a different format next season an the board agree then I think the following could be sold or released.this is how I see it not personally but the clubs view.shea, isted, Macey,Potts, rea, berry, freeman, Lansbury, thorpe, adebayo, muskwe, Woodrow, gomes, perriera. I suspect one or two may be a shock but as I said club decision not mine but what may become.probably get shot for this but hey let’s see

Hey CW… Are you saying it is confirmed that the club is thinking this or your personal belief on what the club are thinking… Confused on the not personally comment.
Think we will struggle to clear out Adebayo and 3/4 of GK department but only afford one marquee signing as said before…
Can’t disagree on a lot of it though if a new direction is to be adopted… Think a massive turnover could be detrimental to our culture so need a lot of quality added to make up for it I would suspect.

It’s whats been said in the past that Rob wants to tweek things Steve he didn’t muck around mid season for obvious reasons.but if he does for next season with board approval then that is what I’m basing my list on just my opinion of who I think could go.it has nothing to do with a marquee signing just an overview of possible leavers.

      • Chris winter says:

Steve look closely there are no massive changes to the first team more perifery players so no great change in there except maybe one . As for keepers a new number 1? Or shea an Walton isted probably won’t stay or Macey so why not.

        • Steve Bahrain says:

I agree with most of it mate. Only ade first team in there. With Horvath returning (out of our salary range so not signing) I can’t see all 3 GK’s leaving… Think Shea will stay and Isted/Macey heading out.
Think CMG and Mcatee on that list as well.

  • Andrew says:

I agree Chris I think it will a good clear out this summer a few on the list I would not want to see go but yeah I think it is needed let’s hope who ces in serve as good as the ones that leave. Coyh for tomorrow night.

  • Eddie says:

Hi Chris , agree with most of that if we go up I think Elijah maybe sold , not quite sure he is yet good enough for prem , but wouldn’t agree if we stay in the championship , as regards the rest I would agree , although question mark on Berry if we stay in the championship .As regards 2nd leg, my heart says we can do it , but my head not , we don’t score many and can’t see Sunderland not scoring , it’s pessimistic I know but it’s born out of our awful record in dammed play offs .Get an early goal and I will have a bit more hope , please can we just break this hoodoo , we so deserve to go up .

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Eddie, like you head an heart on tomorrow just not sure what will happen. As for adebayo I knew this would be controversial if Rob wants to go a different route I see no place for similar players so Morris is obviously first as for ade well does he drop to a back up can’t see him doing that or sell him.personnally I now see him as a lower championship clubs leading striker or a top division one striker.just my opinion.

I’m afraid tiny little Luton are toast.

Sunderland are a machine right now. You should save us the bother of having to visit your antiquated dump of a ‘stadium’, and just concede defeat.

    • Chris winter says:

Bet your back in your hovel now whining you was robbed.next time we see you will you show humility no . I’m off to Wembley you aren’t 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

  • Eddie says:

Ye its tiny little Luton that got 3rd in the league mate , doesn’t say a great deal about your club , yes you may beat us in play offs , but your lot should be right up there above us , considering your resources , we have done fantastic with the lowest budget in the championship , we have an amazing club .I really hope we dump you out , your fans appear so arrogant , so sure you gonna beat us just because we are little Luton , look again at the table you Mackems and give us a bit of respect. Also we are labelled as team of hoofers , yes we are direct but we can play decent football aswell. By the way Sunderland is a dump aswell .

  • Chris winter says:

Don’t take the bait Eddie an sink to their level we as Luton fans have class we don’t belittle others .just let it go an see what our players an our support can do tonight. Remember the boys an our support can move mountains we have done it all season no reason we can’t do it again tonight. Then we can celebrate 🥳🥳

  • Eddie says:

Hi Chris , your spot on mate , I was thinking last night why did I rise to it , it was late and I wasn’t thinking. Ye we can do it , early goal would be nice for us .

  • Alan says:

Hi all, let’s see if grumpy old man come on here after we beat them later…..nobody asked him to visit our “dump”. Can quite easily stay in his own…..
