It doesn`t seem that long ago that Luton Town had a comfortable eight-point lead at the top of the League Two table.

Unfortunately, a minor blip in form has not only seen that lead reduced but the Hatters now find themselves in a situation whereby they only lead the League Two table by a solitary point.

Whilst we`ve watched on as the form of one of our promotion rivals, Notts County, has dipped alarmingly, the form of another, Accrington Stanley, has seen the famous club emerge from the pack as our the Hatters main contenders for the title.

Last night, Accrington continued their recent fine form with a 1-0 home win, against Morecambe, the kind of result teams looking to achieve promotion inevitably grind-out.

As fortune would have it, this Saturday the two-clubs go head-to-head at Kenilworth Road, in a game we`re all eagerly anticipating.

Naturally, here at Vital Luton Town, we`re hoping that Nathan Jones can inspire his side to a win, knowing a victory would re-establish a four-point gap between the two sides, thereby giving the Hatters a little leeway when it comes to the promotion run-in.

However, you get the feeling that the general public are backing Accrington, having been informed that promotion will see them compete in League One for the first time in their history.

But, I`ve no time for sentiment, let`s show everybody that Luton can rise to the occasion and produce another of those barn-storming big scoring displays that illuminated our play earlier this season.

Come on Luton, it`s time to issue a statement of intent!
