Luton – It’s A Head Scratching Experience

No matter how much you try and dress it up, a defeat is a defeat. In such circumstances, it is important to try and extract positives from a loss.

Yesterday, in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of AFC Bournemouth, there were plenty of positives to take on another occasion we could, despite being 2-0 down, have taken something from the game.

If our first-half performance had of matched the grit and determination we showed in the second half, we could have taken all three points but at least one, as recognised by a tweet from a fan of the south coast side:

But, delving into the world of social media, not being able to generate a 90-minute performance is causing the Hatters support concern and something that Nathan Jones needs to urgently address:

That failing is one of the reasons we are having to scrap for points, on too many occasions we are emerging for the second half with a mountain to climb and on the rare occasion we put in a decent first forty-five minutes, against Swansea City, we had a very poor second forty-five minutes.

Supporting Luton, it would seem, remains a head scratching experience.

But, come Wednesday, we will all be up for it again:

Three points please Luton, we are owed a 90-minute performance are we not?

Hi MH Why does NJ not stick we saying how it is instead of keep making excuses to divert from the real problems. Ok some fan held the ball too long, a towel was not available but did this cost us the games I think not. First half poor defending was the cause. Iis he saying missing Bell and Bradley was the root cause I don’t think so. We go and buy tall defenders but they seem to mark space and not the man. We miss far to many goal scoring chances from corners. You don’ need to be top level strikers to put away simple chances its about concentration and awareness. We have enough backroom staff who should be capable of developing the ability and techniques of players to take take the easy chances let alone the difficult ones.

The fans expect and deserve 90 minutes of acceptable performance OK we will be beaten by better sides but lets start taking our chances and not giving away easy goals. Lets hope Wednesday starts our recovery.

when we get the defence sorted, and everyone is fit, then if the team are still losing, that would be the time to moan . every football supporter loves to have a moan, its in our d.n.a. thats why this forum is so interesting.always good to see peoples varied comments. i was talking to a friend about our disgraceful points deduction many years ago, now that was something to moan about, not losing a couple of games to good teams.get things in perspective, stay positive.my view on time wasting tactics is,every team wastes time to annoy teams and supporters.we do it,so why get so upset, its part of the game.as someone said last week, funny old game.COYH.
