Luton – It Is A Thumbs Up For The Hatters

It is the eve of our fourteenth game of the 2021/2022 Championship season and time to look at how we believe it will end.

The visitors to Kenilworth Road tomorrow are Hull City who occupy twenty-first position in the Championship table with 9 points.

Hull’s recent form shows that they have only taken 4 points out of the last 15 possible courtesy of a run of form that is as thus – LDWLL, whereas the Hatters last five games has seen Luton amass 8 points out of the last 15 available, with a run of form looking as thus – LWDWD, which sees Luton occupying a lofty ninth place.

On paper it looks like a game that the Hatters are favourites to win but then again, the last fixture, against Derby, also had that feel with the game ending 2-2.

Unfortunately, that result led to the ‘grumpy old git’ resurfacing in me, and I was a little harsh on how Luton performed, ignoring the fact they showed great resilience in coming from behind twice, for that I have eaten a large slice of humble pie.

But how do those who visit Vital Luton Town perceive this game going?

Well, according to our poll, 88% of those who voted are of the opinion Luton will emerge the victors, 5% are going for a draw and the remaining 7% opting for a Hull City win.

But is that view shared by the Sky Sports resident expert David Prutton?

It appears it is with Prutton going for a 2-1 Luton win and remarking about the game:

“It is four unbeaten for Luton now, as they bounced back twice in midweek to secure a decent point at Derby. They are still – even at this early stage of the season – within touching distance of the top six. It is never a bad place to be.

“What Hull would give to be there! Back-to-back defeats and they are back in the relegation zone in the Championship. Grant McCann got them back to this level, but he will be feeling the pressure. I think Luton will be too good.”

As we have already seen this season, there are no easy games in the Championship with everybody capable of beating everyone else.

Here’s hoping that Luton are fast out of the traps this Saturday and take the three points on offer to climb a little higher in the table.

Morning mh, I have just been reading njs latest comments an while I agree with them mostly he hasn’t addressed why we keep dipping in the first 45mins of games after a good previous game. An what he is going to do to try and rectify this. We are doing well but look at where we could be but for all the dropped points.

Hi all, after the game on Tuesday night I too was a bit down thought we were going to come away with 3 points but looking back now it was a good result as we did not play that good and Derby are in a false position so it’s on to Saturday and hull it’s a game we should win but who knows . Like Chris I read NJ today and he does not seem to try and sort this problem out or tell us he is . Maybe he should change the team after every game but I was brought up with keep the same team if you are winning but it may well the way the team plays and are set up so maybe change around the midfield each game to keep it fresh . Hi adrew, I agree that a settled same 11 starting line up is preferable to tinkering every game. The defense an forwards are now more reliable. But midfield seems to be our beit nolr at the moment. I feel that this is where our problem lies.

a case of too many options perhaps? Not knowing who gels best.

That seems to be it at the start of the season Campbell an lansbury seemed to be a promising pair but since Campbell injury lansbury has rarely started. Now for me when Campbell is fit an Thorpe up to speed. Both are tough tackles with osho as defencive midfielder an lansbury the playmaker is what I’d like to see tryed.
