Luton Hit By A Cruel Injury Blow

When Gabriel Osho signed for Luton, as a free agent, back in November 2020, I, for one, was looking to see what impact the player would have.

As has been the case with several players signed in recent times, Osho had to be patient, presumably being educated into the way the Hatters do things.

But, once Gabe made the breakthrough, I must admit he has been excellent, his ability to play, perfectly adequately, in several positions, has made him an important member of the squad.

Sadly, it looks as if we’re going to have to make do without Gabe for the rest of the season, after, as reported by The BBC, the 23-year-old will be side-lined until next season with a hamstring injury the player picked up against Middlesbrough.

Also, our linked article, contains some remarks attributed to Nathan Jones which cover the injury and just how big a loss Gabe will be:

“Because of the relentless schedule and because of injuries to other midfield players, he had to play more than we would have liked.

“Gabe was unfortunate because he had to play Saturday, then Wednesday against Chelsea – which was a massive shift – and then he had to do it again at Middlesbrough and that’s invariably what got him injured.”

That’s all very well but the devil inside me is now starting to ponder why players, these days, don’t seem quite as able to play as many games as they did during past era’s, are they too fit and pushing the human body to a fine line where it easily breaks down?

But, continuing, Nathan spoke about the word patient I used earlier:

“We had so many opportunities to loan him out this year – a lot of big clubs wanted to take him – but we told him to keep being patient, and he’s shown that he can be excellent in a number of positions, and we’re delighted he’s our player.”

And I have to say, so am I, it is a bitter blow for the club and the player as we seek to secure a play-off place and here at Vital Luton Town’ I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Gabe a speedy and successful recovery.

Afternoon MH. Yes we do suffer from injuries to our major players. However what is more disappointing is that many have occurred during itraining? The latest being between Lockyer and Jerome both unable to play their full part in the Peterborough game due to colliding during training. The defence was poor in both the Millwall and Peterborough games and we must learn how to prevent breakaway goals in the closing minutes of games something we have endured in the not too distance past.

The Huddersfield and Notts Forest games are now must win games if we lose these given then our promotion hopes are over we might then just miss out by one place on the playoffs. Please prove me wrong LTFC
