With Gareth Southgate set to announce his 26-man England squad, this afternoon, I had hoped there might be a surprise inclusion.

With several of the usual suspects, for the full-back slots, out injured, I hoped that Luton-born James Justin might be named.

Justin, who made 114 appearances for the Hatters before moving to Leicester City, had battled back from a serious knee injury to reclaim his place in the Foxes side.

Sadly, as reported by Leicester City’s Official Site, it wasn’t to be with Justin picking up the second serious injury of his career.

In the Carabao Cup match, against Newport County, on Tuesday evening, the former Putteridge High School pupil ruptured an Achilles tendon and was stretchered off just past the hour mark.

The injury means that Justin will miss the remainder of the Premier League season.

I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing James a speedy recovery as he battles down that long road to recovery.

Newport County and the EFL Cup… Just seems like bad news for Hatters fans.
He scored a cracker as well.
Hope he comes back stronger once more and goes again.
