Luton Facing Midfield Crisis

We always believed this summer would be, for Luton, a busy one when it comes to revamping the squad ahead of the 2021/2022 season.

But in doing so are we heading for something akin to a midfield crisis?

The reason we ask is that with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall having returned to Leicester City, after the conclusion of his season-long loan deal and with George Moncur having been released by the club, there is also the possibility that Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu may also choose not to sign a new deal.

But if that was not bad enough, speculation has emerged, overnight, linking one of last summers signings with a move away from the club.

According to The 72, Joe Morrell is set to leave the club this summer.

The 24-year-old, signed from Bristol City last summer, has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of game time for the Hatters.

Last season, Morrell only featured in 10 Championship games, his predicament can be highlighted by the fact that the midfielder has clocked up more minutes on the pitch for Wales this season than he has for Luton, an astonishing fact.

Now whether Luton will grant Morrell his desire to leave remains to be seen, but even without this latest complication, the midfield is now looking to be an area of the pitch which is approaching crisis proportions.
