While I was away, on-shift, doing my utmost to keep the Aviation sector, in this country, alive, the fixtures for the 2020 / 2021 season were released.

I what will, as the season progresses, become a permanent feature, I thought I’d take a look at the fixtures the Hatters have been given, for the opening month of the season (September), with a view to predicting how many points Nathan Jones side might attain.

The fixture computer certainly gave us a mixed bag for the opening month:

• Barnsley (a)
• Derby County (h)
• Watford (a)

A trip to Oakwell is always tough, Barnsley, just like us, defied the critics to retain their Championship status on that memorable last day of the extended 2019 / 2020 season.

Derby County, on the other hand, would have been disappointed their 2019 / 2020 season was a pale shadow of the previous season where, under the tutorship of Frank Lampard, they made the Championship play-offs.

Watford though, is the plum fixture of the first month of the season, a chance to go to Vicarage Road and do a number on a side that were, much o our amusement, relegated from the Premier League, last season.

All three are tough games, but I expect the Hatters to emerge with a total of 6 points or, to put it another way, 2 wins and a loss from those opening 3 games, I’ll leave you to ponder where the wins and where the loss will come.

But how many points do you see the Hatters earning in those crucial first three games?

How Many Championship Points Will Luton Earn In September?

7-9

4-6

0-3

0-3

Hi mh, Alan an I looked at the first 5 or 6 games an both felt 10.or more points were achievable there is a good mix of games an should tell us more about how we well fare this season

  • Alan says:

Hi all, I believe we will open the season on a positive note. If we carry on the way we left off, we will be ok. Hear nj still looking to strengthen before the start, so that’s a good sign…..

Hi Alan, bree’s transfer is ongoing an we’ve had to up our downpayment. But the rest is as I said. Don’t know what you have heard
But I hear another defender an forward are in talks

  • Alan says:

I’ve heard about another defender, I’ve not heard about forward yet tho…sure something will happen…

Hi all, finally landed lockyer from Charlton on a free with 3yr contract.

  • Alan says:

Hi chris, good to get another defender in….bit of quality too….watched the northampton game kio and becks looked a good couple of full backs…obviously the championship is different, but encouraging….

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Al, yeah I saw it as well. Kioso may well start in the first team sooner than later beck with is coming on as well. Lockyer had a religation clause in his contract that’s a bonus for us. An if I remember rightly is a Welsh international. I know we are still trying for a forward. But negotiating him is proving difficult. Good to see ccv is still on the radar but with him playing at the moment for spurs in friendlies I don’t think we will get him

  • Alan says:

Spurs just signed another defender, could be good news for us getting ccv…..

  • Alan says:

    Hi all….defence strengthened then…..its what we needed….

    • Chris winter says:

Hi Alan, great to get a quality centre half and a proper international, an hopefully bree will finally get used properly as a right back an show what he can do. Don’t see the need for ccv now.

  • Alan says:

Hi chris, bree did look a different player under nj…that’s what happens when you play players in there proper positions….locks is a international centre half….
