And so, there is light at the end of the tunnel and the dreary international break is now over.
Some of you may have enjoyed the festival of goals but my biggest gripe is trying to convince the wife that the England fixtures were worthy of the coverage that ITV chose to give them.
After all, our opponents were, on the football pitch, second class nations who we should have, and did, inevitably roll over.
If pushed to provide a highlight of the games, fixtures that bored me rigid, I would have to admit I do find Roy Keane’s stinging comments quite amusing.
But, reflecting on a weekend of football, I must admit that the best game I viewed was the League Two clash between Port Vale and Bradford City.
It ended in a creditable 1-1 draw, but one player caught my eye – Tom Conlon the Port Vale captain, or Tom George Sawyer Conlon to give him his full name.
The midfielder, just 25-years of age, dominated the midfield and showcased his skills, pushing forward with the ball and creating chances for his teammates.
I don’t know about you but I’m seriously wondering if he might be worth bidding for this January transfer window, could he comfortably move up two divisions?

Hi mh, I also watched the game. Alas unlike you while conlon was the best player. I saw nothing of real note to say we should be going for him. As far as I’m aware a keeper an defender are our priorities.
Keeper? Sluga leaving?
I don’t know what the status is with him. But as ive stated before the club has to be ready which is why they have been keeping tabs on someone an watching him. Although you would think that shea an isted would be ample cover.
At the Meet the Manager event last week, NJ said that ‘technically Sluga was not out of contract’, without explaining what that meant. We will see in due course.

I think sluga will be sold in January to save us losing money and him for nothing in summer. The guy has been fantastic for us after his first few months. But let’s face it Jones has a thing for Christian Walton all I keep seeing on news rumour sites is us being linked with him but I don’t think he is better than sluga.
